A very warm welcome to new and returning families. We are excited about the new season and events planned.

Swim Practices begin at Central Park onMay 1stfor the Junior, Intermediate and Senior training groups.

Junior Prep swimmers begin their practices onWednesday May 2ndat Bonsor Pool. StartingMay 14thJunior Preps will practice at Central Park.

Water Polo practices also begin onWednesday May 2ndat Central Park.

A General Parents' Meeting for returning swim families will be heldTuesday May 1st 4:30pmat Central Park. Another swim parent meeting will be held at5:30pmonWednesday May 2ndon deck at Bonsor pool during the first Junior Prep Practice. A Parent meeting for new and returning Water Polo families will be held onMay 2nd at 7:30pmon deck at Central Pool.

We welcome our new Head Coaches for Swimming - James Cormier (Kensington), Araya Therrien (MacPherson). Grace Ni assumes the role of Head Coach for Junior Prep. Read their profiles on the coaches page of the website.

Also joining the coaching team is Niallan Collier who will be working with the Senior Group at MacPherson and Barracudas Alumnus Brady Liu will be working the Juniors at Kensington.

We have an enthusiastic team of Junior Prep coaches including Daniela Luongo (K),Nick Tran (K), Alessia Marquez (K), Sofia Napolitano (K), Garrett Yeo (M), Cameron Dickson (M), Olivia Graham (M), Con Kubada (M) and Mitra Suseendran.

Assessments of new swimmers will happen at the first practice and they will be placed accordingly. At that time, you can refer to the practice schedules on our website for confirm your practice times for the season.

If you are unable to attend the assessment times provided please contact our registrarregistrar@burnabybarracudas.comto inform you which group you will be swimming with.

Swim PracticesFriday June 1stfor all training groups will be at Central Park.

June 4thswim practices will move to Kensington and MacPherson pools. Please note that for the month of JuneMondayPM swim practices will be at Central Park for all groups including Junior Prep swimmers. These will be our team bonding training sessions and we’re really excited about it. Team Gear will be available for sale during theMondayafternoon practices.

In July,MondayPM practices at Central Park will continue for the Seniors, Intermediates and Junior groups. Due to limited pool time available at Central Park in July the Junior Prep swimmers will trainon Mondayafternoons at their regular pool.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! We are bringing back the Cudas MockMay 27that Bonsor pool which will be followed by a Team Breakfast - Waffles! This fun swim meet simulation will prepare new swimmers and their parents on what to expect at a swim meet. We will also be training parents on timing and officiating duties. Partial season swimmers are strongly encouraged to take part as well. Waffle Breakfast is open to the entire club and water polo and divers are encouraged to attend as well.

Our Development Meet and Grand Prix Meet will be held onJUNE 8th, 9th and 10th. A big thank-you to the families who have already committed to their shifts. If you have not yet done so, please email our Meet Manager Michelle Quanquanmichelle@gmail.comand she will set you up.

The club is looking for sponsors and prizes for the Grand Prix. It is a significant fund raiser for our club so if you know of sponsorship opportunities please the Executive.

Water Polo

We welcome back Con Kubada as Head Coach for Water Polo. He will be assisted by Erica and Alessia Marquez.

We are happy to coordinate a Try Water Polo sessions for athletes who are interested or curious about the sport. Please contact our Director of Water Polo, Stacey Milne atwaterpolo@burnabybarracudas.com

Lots of playing time will be available for everyone and we will be providing plenty of tournament opportunities throughout the season!


The Barracudas are partnering with the Port Moody Aquarian to run a joint Dive Program for 2018. Dive practices will beginJune 4that MacPherson and are planned forMonday,WednesdayandFridayevenings. There will be additional practices at Port Moody to work on the 3-metre diving board. Barracudas and Port Moody will co-host a Dive meet in July at Port Moody.

We are happy to announce that Liz Durward, former SFU Varsity Diver will be coaching our aspiring divers. Liz is an accomplished competitor and coach and is excited to introduce the sport to a new generation.

Our club urgently needs more parents to be trained and volunteer as deck officials for the season. It’s a great way to really learn the sport.confirm.
