Provincial Practice Schedules

Congratulations to all the Barracudas athletes who participated in the Regional Championships for Water Polo, Dive and Speed Swim this past week. All our athletes and coaches make us proud! It's been an exhausting week but filled with many great successes!

Our water polo teams advanced to the Provincial Championships on wild card entries. Go Cudas Go!

One diver qualified for Provincials - we wish a speedy recovery to Angelina who would have also qualified for dive had she not broken her leg shortly before regionals.

Swim regionals at Central Park ended Sunday night. We had 15 relay teams medal - eight of which were gold medal winning relays teams - well done! We qualified many individual swimmers for provincials and there were an amazing number of personal best times which is a perfect way to end the speed swim season. We also had many more Barracudas participate in the regional championships this year which was amazing. Wild cards qualifiers for swim will be informed by tomorrow if they have a spot.

Congratulations to all the qualifiers and good luck at provincials. Qualifiers please see meet package here

For those whose season is now over we hope you a great training season and ended stronger than when you began and had a great time along the way. The coaches are all looking forward to working with you again next summer and hope to see you all at the awards banquet on September 28th.

Shout out for Volunteers @ Swim Regionals

This is a shout out to all our amazing volunteers who worked at swim regionals during the weekend. Thank-you for filling up those shifts quickly and for being reliable in completing your duties. It made the meet run smoothly and our jobs easier. There were many timing shifts in the hot baking sun! Some of you double shifted which is noted and appreciated. Thanks for the dedicated concession volunteers who kept the food and refreshments going all weekend long with smiles and a friendly attitude.

There are few platinum level volunteers that deserve special recognition for their tremendous contribution and with whom the meet could not have happened - Robert Yeo and Brad Sandquist directed the set-up and take down for the pool and concession. THIS IS A HUGE JOB and the club is so very luck to have such a committed equipment team.

Natalia Loginova, the Barracudas Chief Meet Recorder, who ran the office for the meet and produced all the official results. It was a long weekend with a week of preparation leading up to the event. She did an amazing job running her first official Regional Meet on her own - great Job Natalia. Honourable mention to Sa'aa Traxler and Phuong Tran - Natalia's trusted assistants in the office who kept the office running smoothly.

Eileen Lau concession coordinator worked endless hours planning and preparing the menu, supplies and volunteers. She was the first one on site every day and the last to leave and did the thankless job of cleaning the club's deep fryer!! Concession hours for a regional meet are almost double what it is for our home meet so we all owe Eileen a huge debt of gratitude for her generous gift of time, talent and hard work to make this important fundraiser happen for the club. It keeps our fees low and helps pay for the many equipment needs of the club THANK-YOU EILEEN and team!!

Mary Blazevic who did an amazing job of coordinating and distributing the t-shirts to provincial qualifiers. This task can be logistical nightmare but Mary makes it looks easy! Thanks to the folks who helped Mary distribute to our team and to the other clubs.

Nicole Pope who was our go-to volunteer if we were stuck or needed someone to do a job no-one else was willing to take - eg. PARKING duty at 5:30am. She also managed the Clerk of Course during finals on Sunday which ain't easy with so many anxious swimmers (and parents) - GRACIAS Nicole.

Michelle Quan for coordinating our volunteers shifts and for deck officiating.

Ashley Sandquist who did many shifts on deck this weekend in the baking sun. She represented our club on the officiating front and was awarded her red pin. Congratulations and thank-you Ashley you do us proud.
